An explanation of the Series by Greg Dybec:
“I am not young enough to know everything.” – Oscar Wilde
When I first established FIX IT BROKEN, I was afraid of one thing. My age. Being twenty-one and fairly new to the online literary journal/small press community, I wasn’t sure if my age would act as a deterrent. I feared that it would turn people away, or cause writers to feel uneasy about trusting me with their work. One thing I quickly learned was that I was beyond ignorant for even harboring such a thought. In this thriving and on-the-rise community of online and small publications, some of the most commanding literature and creative intuitiveness is produced by young writers and editors, who are fresh, witty, and more than capable of succeeding in their dreams and passions.
The Youth is Write Interview Series will be several things. It will be a showcase. Proof of the talented young minds that inhabit this literary realm. It will also be a forum. A place where we will discuss, ponder, and celebrate what it means to be young in what is such a seasoned and weathered (old is the right word) craft and art form.
Through a series of unique interviews, each one conducted by a different young writer, we will be able to discover first hand, through the experiences, thoughts, and creations of a variety of young authors and editors, what it means to be young in the world of literature, if it means anything at all.
The Youth is Write Interview Series will be a ten week endeavor. Each week a new interview will be posted on the site. In fear of the series becoming dull or monotonous, each week the interviewer and interviewee will be a different combination of individuals, taken from the remarkable group of writers listed above.
I'm honored to have such creative and celebrated young writers willing to participate. Stay tuned for the first installment of the series, slated for publication here on FIX IT BROKEN in a couple of weeks.
Along the way I encourage comments, feedback, and questions. We are a community, aren’t we?
Thanks for all the support.
Best,
Greg Dybec
